I wanted to keep an element surprise while using the melody from Utopia part 1 and re-arrange it into different settings.

It moves into a 5/4 section with flugelhorn melody and then voice and guitar melody with horn backgrounds into solos. The flugelhorn solo is in 5/4 and the guitar solo is in 7/4. The transition from 5/4 to 7/4 is a basic dotted quarter becomes the half note. After solos, flugel and guitar play an energetic soli melody twice, once with bass and drums, second time with full ensemble backgrounds (which is the melody being used as a background). This is designed to be the peak of the piece. High energy/intensity. I’m really going for a mixture of emotions in this piece – melancholy to pure bliss.
